PRIVATE VISA FOR A CLOSE RELATIVE OF A RUSSIAN CITIZEN


A private visa for a foreign citizen who is a close relative of a citizen of the Russian Federation may be:


single or double entry (for a period of up to 3 months)

multiple entry (for a period of up to one year, with no limit on the period of stay in the territory of the Russian Federation during the entire period of validity of the visa).


1) Passport.

A valid foreign (diplomatic, service, ordinary) passport or other identity document recognized as such by the Russian Federation.

The passport must not raise doubts about its authenticity and ownership by its owner, contain marks, reservations, entries, erasures and corrections not certified by the competent authorities of the relevant foreign state, torn out or unsewn pages, must have at least two blank pages intended for visas, its validity must not expire earlier than six months from the expiration date of the visa.

Attention! Russian visas are not issued to foreign citizens whose technical condition of the passports does not allow establishing the validity of the said document or its ownership by the owner.

If the page with the identification data is found to be detached from the cover, or the laminating film is detached from the page with the identification data or from the photograph, or if there are tears in the pages of the passport or unspecified corrections and erasures, visas for such documents will not be issued.


2) Visa application form.

The visa application form is completed electronically only.

After completing the required information on the website, the visa application form is printed out in one copy, a photograph of the applicant is glued to the visa, the application form is signed by the applicant personally in the designated place, and the date of completion of the application form is indicated.

Attention! The answers to the questions of the visa application form must be exhaustive.

In case of discrepancy between the identification data of the foreign citizen specified in the visa application form and the information contained in the travel document submitted by him, as well as in the presence of unfilled fields or discrepancy between the information provided and the name of the section, the acceptance of documents for visa processing will be refused until the reasons for the refusal are eliminated.


3) One photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm.

A photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm (black and white or color) with a clear frontal view of the face without tinted glasses and without a headdress (except for foreign citizens for whom the constant wearing of a headdress is a mandatory attribute of their nationality or religion, provided that the foreign citizen is depicted wearing such a headdress in the photograph in the passport).

Attention! The photograph must be taken in a special photo studio. In the photograph, the applicant's face must be on a white background.


4) A written demand from a citizen of the Russian Federation (see Sample Demand for a Private Visa) for entry of a foreign citizen who is his close relative or a member of his family (husband, wife, parents (adoptive parents), children (adopted), children's spouses, full and half siblings, grandfathers, grandmothers, grandchildren).


Such a demand is made in any form and must contain the last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship, passport number, registration address and actual residence address of the Russian citizen (if living in the territory of the Russian Federation), as well as the last name, first name, date of birth, citizenship, gender, passport number, visa multiplicity, purpose of travel, requested period of entry into the Russian Federation, intended place of residence of the person applying for a visa, and the cities to be visited.


- If the inviting Russian citizen is on the territory of the Russian Federation, the original of such a demand must be submitted to the Consular service, the authenticity of the signature of the citizen of the Russian Federation on which must be certified by a Russian notary in accordance with the current Russian legislation

The applicant is not allowed to provide a copy of a notarized application or an application, the signature on which is certified by a foreign notary.

+ A simple copy of the internal or foreign passport of the Russian citizen.

The applicant is not required to provide a notarized copy of the identity document of the inviting citizen of Russia.


- If the inviting Russian citizen is in Senegal or Gambia, the demand of the citizen of the Russian Federation for entry of a foreign citizen who is his close relative must be submitted by the Russian citizen to the Consular service in person.

In this case, the submission of an application to the RZU by an adult citizen of the Russian Federation by his representative is not allowed.

+ the original of the internal or foreign passport of the Russian citizen.


In the event that an application for entry of a foreign citizen who is a close relative of a citizen of the Russian Federation is submitted on behalf of a minor citizen of the Russian Federation, it can only be written by the second parent - a citizen of the Russian Federation who is not in an officially registered marriage with the said foreigner.

In this case, in his application, the Russian citizen confirms guarantees of material, medical and housing support for the invited foreign citizen during his stay in the Russian Federation.

A similar procedure applies to foreign citizens who are close relatives of minor citizens of the Russian Federation, provided that the application on behalf of the minor Russian citizen is submitted by one of his parents, a citizen of the Russian Federation.


5). Originals or notarized copies of documents confirming kinship (marriage certificates, birth certificates, name change certificates, etc.).

Foreign official documents confirming kinship with a citizen of the Russian Federation, issued by third countries, must be translated into Russian, legalized, or have an "Apostille" stamp affixed to them.


6) Medical insurance policy - only for a multiple-entry visa: (must cover the period of the foreigner's first entry, if the period of the first entry has not yet been determined, then the policy must cover at least 90 days from the expected date of entry into the Russian Federation)


7) Certificate of absence of HIV infection.

Only when applying for a multiple-entry private visa for a foreign citizen for a period of more than 3 months, with the exception of spouses, children (including adopted children), parents (including adoptive) of citizens of the Russian Federation.


4) Payment of the consular fee (see Consular fees).

The consular fee is paid by the applicant if a full set of documents is provided.

Payment is made in cash only, in CFA francs.

Attention! Please prepare the exact amount before coming to the Consular Section. The Consular Section does not give change.


Foreign citizens in countries other than their countries of citizenship are not required to provide a document confirming the right to reside in these countries for a period exceeding 180 days.


The processing time for a private visa for a close relative of a Russian citizen:

  • 5-20 working days (for a single or double entry visa).
  • 10-20 working days (for a multiple entry visa). It is possible to process a visa on the day of submitting all the necessary documents.

Attention!  Private visas of this category cannot be urgent.


Visas of this category are issued based on the decision of the head of the diplomatic mission.
